In a little bit of a shock Microsoft are making available the source code of Windows Server protocols that were covered in the EU Commision demands from 2004. Microsoft had previously made available 12,000 pages of technical information regarding the said protocols and offered 500 hours of professional support free of charge to corporations who were still unable to be completly satisfied. With the ability to view the source code of the actual software that people are trying to develop for it would appear Microsoft have covered any further problems with this particular case. Software developers will be entitled to view the code but not copy the code for their own applications. Microsoft had previosly offered the same license for software developers in the USA under the Windows XP desktop software in which more than 20 corporations had taken them up on this offer. Microsoft has contested the merits of the original EU Commision 2004 report and will be heard by The European Court of First Instance on February 15th 2006. Microsoft Press Release
